Rethinking the Service with Phil Ford and Gina Card.
Recent strategic plans from libraries have changed what Bookmobiles are about and now it’s time to be more than just a branch service. We will talk about our service and how we began to rethink our Bookmobile from a bus that stops with books, to an Outreach service with creative programs. We will share our transformation experience as well as some of the programs we have created (from eBooks Zoos to Teen Camps!) then open the floor for discussion.
Phil Ford is celebrating ten years with Henrico County Library Bookmobile, Virginia. He is a former Virginia Library Association presenter and is on the Library Futures & Trends committee. He is also the co-editor and contributing writer of the books “Richmond Macabre: Nightmares from the River City” and “Richmond Macabre II: More Nightmares”. Gina Card has worked with books and those who love them for 20 years. For the past six years she has been proud to serve as the Children’s staff member for the Henrico County Public Library (Virginia) Bookmobile.
