The Columbus Metropolitan Library has been programming to children with special needs for over 20 years. Originally staffed by one librarian, the service now includes three librarians who conduct an average of 250 storytimes each month to special needs children from toddler to upper-elementary level. Angela Shugart (with Sherry Huston and Wendy Ramsey) will discuss what props, stories, songs and rhymes have been successful with this audience over the years. Sample programming plans and prop patterns will be provided.

Angela Shugart has worked for the Columbus Metropolitan Library, Ohio, for 15 years and on the Bookmobiles in Outreach Services for 13 years. She visits 17 buildings and presents storytimes to 42 special needs classes each month during the school year.

The Rolling Hills Library made the commitment to put a bookmobile on the road. Raising the money to fund the purchase became a priority for our inactive Foundation Board. Getting the right community people on the board, identifying the money sources within the community, putting together a kick off and sustaining the fund drive will be the focus of the presentation.

Barbara Read was a volunteer for 20 years until she was offered a paid position and went to library school. She then became library director in a small city. Barb is currently the director of Rolling Hills Consolidated Library, a two county system in Northwest Missouri that needs a bookmobile to provide better and more efficient library services for residents in the outlying areas of rural Andrew and Buchanan counties. Fundraising for the bookmobile began in March 2012.
